Timeless, joyful wedding photography for Baton Rouge, South Louisiana, and beyond

Wedding Photography FAQs

A few helpful details for couples planning a wedding in Baton Rouge or throughout South Louisiana.

Do you photograph weddings in Baton Rouge?

My style is bright, romantic, joyful, and true-to-life. I love beautiful natural light, genuine emotion, and photographs that still look and feel like you.

On a wedding day, I photograph a balance of classic, beautifully composed portraits and the candid, in-between moments happening around them. The end result is a gallery that feels polished and timeless without losing the personality, emotion, and fun of the day itself.

What is your photography style?

BATON ROUGE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Absolutely. You don’t need to know how to pose, what to do with your hands, or where to look — that’s my job!

I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I never want your photographs to feel stiff or overly posed. I use movement and simple prompts to help you relax into things naturally, and I’ll step back when a moment is better left to unfold on its own.

Will you help us feel comfortable in front of the camera?

These sessions are intentionally built into your experience — not as extras, but as meaningful parts of your story.

Your engagement session allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera in a relaxed, natural way.

THE EXPERIENCE

Wedding Photography FAQs

Do you photograph candid moments as well as posed portraits?

Yes! I believe a wedding gallery needs both.

I’ll step in and give direction for the photographs that benefit from it — family portraits, wedding party photos, couple portraits, and those classic photographs you’ll want to have decades from now.

But I also spend a huge part of the day simply watching. Your dad seeing you in your dress. Your grandmother watching you walk down the aisle. Your best friend laughing during a toast. The look you give each other when no one else is paying attention.

Those photographs are just as important to me as the ones we planned.

How involved are you before the wedding?

Very! I don’t want to arrive on your wedding day learning everything for the first time.

Before the wedding, I’ll gather details about your timeline, wedding party, family groupings and dynamics, sentimental details and heirlooms, locations, special requests, and anything else that’s important to you.

I’ll use all of that information to create a photography plan for your day. My goal is to arrive already knowing what matters, where I need to be, and what we’re doing next — so you don’t have to spend your wedding day managing your photographer.

YOUR WEDDING DAY

Do you help with the wedding-day timeline?

Absolutely. Timeline planning is a big part of the experience I provide.

I’ll help guide the photography portion of your timeline so we have enough time for the photographs that matter without making your wedding feel like one long photoshoot.

We’ll plan around getting-ready photos, details, first looks or first touches, wedding party and family portraits, ceremony timing, couple portraits, travel between locations, and golden hour when your schedule allows.

The goal is always the same: beautiful photographs and enough breathing room for you to actually enjoy your wedding.

Do you help with family photo lists?

Yes. Before the wedding, we’ll talk through the family groupings that are important to you so we aren’t trying to figure them out on the spot.

This also gives me an opportunity to learn about any family dynamics I should be aware of ahead of time. Family portraits can move surprisingly quickly when everyone knows the plan — which means you get back to celebrating sooner!

What happens if our wedding day starts running behind?

It happens! Weddings are real events involving lots of people, so even a beautifully planned timeline can shift.

Part of my job is knowing how to adjust when that happens. I’ll prioritize what’s most important, look for places we can make up time, and keep things moving without making you feel rushed or stressed.

A good timeline gives us a plan. Experience tells us when it’s okay to change it.

Do you photograph all of the little wedding details?

Yes! Invitations, rings, jewelry, shoes, florals, perfume, heirlooms, handwritten letters, and all of those little things you spent months choosing deserve to be remembered too.

Before your wedding, I’ll send guidance on what to have gathered and ready when I arrive so we can photograph those details efficiently without someone having to hunt them down on the wedding morning.

Do you recommend doing a first look?

I love first looks, but I don’t believe every couple needs one.

A first look can give us more flexibility in the timeline, allow you to complete more portraits before the ceremony, and give the two of you a quiet moment together before the day really takes off.

But if you’ve always imagined seeing each other for the first time as you walk down the aisle, I completely understand that too. We’ll build your photography timeline around whichever option feels right for you.

What if we don’t want to do a first look?

That’s completely fine! Plenty of my couples choose to wait until the ceremony.

We’ll simply structure the timeline differently and plan enough time after the ceremony for the portraits that couldn’t be completed beforehand.

You should never choose a first look solely because you think your photographer requires one. I’ll help you understand the timing implications of both options so you can make the choice that feels most like you.

Do you take sunset or golden-hour portraits?

Whenever the timeline, weather, and location allow — absolutely.

Golden hour can create some of the prettiest light of the entire wedding day, and we can plan a short window around sunset for a few additional portraits.

It doesn’t need to turn into another full portrait session, either. Often, just 10–15 minutes away from the reception is enough to create something beautiful — and gives the two of you a little quiet time together in the middle of the celebration.

Do you offer a second photographer?

Yes. A second photographer can be especially valuable for larger weddings, weddings with multiple locations, or timelines where different parts of the day are happening simultaneously.

It also gives us another perspective during important moments — one photographer can focus on you while the other captures your parents’ reactions, your wedding party, your guests, or everything happening just outside the main frame.

Whether you need one depends on your particular wedding, and I’m happy to help you decide.

ENGAGEMENTS + BRIDALS

Do you offer engagement sessions?

Yes! Engagement sessions are available and may be included in select wedding collections.

Beyond giving you beautiful photographs for save-the-dates, your wedding website, or your home, an engagement session gives us a chance to work together before the wedding.

You’ll learn how I give direction, I’ll learn how the two of you interact naturally, and by the time your wedding arrives, being in front of my camera already feels familiar.

Do you photograph bridal portraits?

Absolutely. Bridal portraits are one of my favorite Southern wedding traditions.

A bridal session gives us the opportunity to create beautiful portraits in your full wedding look without the time constraints of the wedding day. It’s also the perfect trial run for your dress, shoes, hair, makeup, bouquet, and all of those little details before the wedding.

Bridal sessions can take place in Baton Rouge or throughout South Louisiana, and we’ll choose a location that complements your dress and the overall look you’re envisioning.

COVERAGE + YOUR GALLERY

How many hours of wedding photography do we need?

It depends on your wedding! The right amount of coverage is based on much more than the length of your ceremony and reception.

Getting-ready locations, whether you’re doing a first look, travel between venues, the size of your wedding party and family, ceremony time, reception events, and the moments you want photographed all play a role.

Once I know a little more about your plans, I can help recommend the amount of coverage that makes the most sense for your day.

How many wedding photos will we receive?

The final number depends on your coverage, timeline, and everything that happens throughout the day.

My galleries tend to be generous because I don’t believe every meaningful moment can be reduced to a specific number. You’ll receive a carefully edited collection that includes the portraits, details, reactions, celebrations, and little in-between moments that together tell the story of your wedding.

As a general reference, my wedding galleries often average around 100 delivered images per hour of coverage, although every wedding is different.

How will we receive our wedding photos?

Your final images are delivered through a beautiful online gallery that you can easily view, download, share with family and friends, and revisit whenever you’d like.

You’ll receive high-resolution digital files along with personal printing rights, and you’ll also have the option to order professional-quality prints and products directly through your gallery.

How long does it take to receive our wedding gallery?

Your wedding photographs receive a lot of individual attention after the day is over. Every final image is carefully selected and edited to create a cohesive gallery that tells the full story of your wedding.

Your contract and wedding information will include your current delivery timeframe so you’ll know exactly what to expect before your wedding day.

LOCATION + BOOKING

Do you photograph weddings in Baton Rouge?

Yes! I’m based in the Baton Rouge area and photograph weddings throughout Baton Rouge, South Louisiana, and beyond.

I’ve photographed everything from traditional church ceremonies and historic Baton Rouge venues to outdoor garden weddings, private properties, and celebrations throughout Louisiana.

Do you travel for weddings?

Absolutely. While Baton Rouge and South Louisiana are home, I’m happy to travel.

If your wedding is outside my standard service area, include the venue or location when you inquire and I’ll provide any applicable travel information along with your collection options.

How far in advance should we book our wedding photographer?

As soon as you have your date and venue, it’s a good time to reach out.

Popular spring and fall Saturdays can book well in advance, and I only accept one wedding per date. Reaching out early also gives us plenty of time for engagement photos, bridal portraits, and all of the planning that happens before your wedding.

How do we reserve our wedding date?

Start by filling out my inquiry form with your wedding date, venue, and a few details about what you’re planning.

I’ll let you know if your date is available and send over wedding collection information and next steps. Once you’ve selected your collection, your wedding date is officially reserved with a signed contract and retainer.

After that, we can start planning the fun stuff!
