Baby Cort’s Newborn Lifestyle Session | Baton Rouge Newborn Photographer

There is something extra special about newborn sessions when there are older siblings involved. You’re not only documenting a brand-new baby—you’re capturing a family as everyone settles into their new roles and gets to know the newest little person they already love so much.

I loved spending the morning with the Brown family for Cort’s lifestyle newborn session in Baton Rouge. Cort is the newest addition to Taylor and Zach’s family, joining his big sister, Audry, and big brother, Bear.

And these two were very excited about their new baby brother.

From cuddling Cort on the bed to inspecting his tiny fingers and toes, so much of this session was simply about letting Audry and Bear interact with him. Those ended up being some of my favorite photographs from the day. There’s something so sweet about seeing just how tiny a newborn looks tucked between his older siblings.

Welcoming Baby Cort

We started with plenty of simple portraits of Cort on his own. At this age, babies change almost daily, so I always want to document the little details—the tiny toes, sleepy stretches, expressions, wisps of hair, and the way they curl up when they’re brand new.

Cort gave us the sweetest mix of sleepy moments and wide-awake expressions. I love that his gallery captures both.

One of the things I love most about lifestyle newborn photography is that we don’t need to force every moment into a perfect pose. Instead, we leave room for babies to move, siblings to be siblings, and the little unexpected moments to happen naturally.

A New Baby Brother

Once Audry and Bear joined us, the session took on a life of its own.

We photographed all three children together, but I also made sure each sibling had a chance to hold and cuddle Cort on their own. Audry was such a sweet big sister, and seeing little Bear snuggled up next to his new baby brother was about as precious as it gets.

These are the photographs I imagine becoming even more meaningful with time.

One day Cort won’t fit so perfectly in their arms. Audry and Bear will hardly remember him being this small. But they’ll always have photographs showing exactly what those first days together looked like.

Relaxed Newborn Photography at Home

We also made time for photographs with Taylor and the children and, of course, the whole family together.

With three kids, I don’t expect a newborn session to be perfectly quiet or perfectly posed—and I wouldn’t want it to be. Part of the beauty of an in-home lifestyle newborn session is allowing your family to be exactly as you are.

Older siblings can climb onto the bed, cuddle their new baby, take breaks when they need them, and come back when they’re ready. Mom and Dad don’t have to pack everyone up and leave the house with a brand-new baby. We simply use the beautiful spaces and natural light already available at home.

The result is a gallery that feels less like a formal photo session and more like a beautiful version of this chapter of your family’s life.

Cort’s session was exactly that—soft, simple, a little playful, and filled with the people who love him most.

Welcome to the world, Cort. You are already so loved.
