The Riedel Family’s Spring Portraits at New Orleans City Park
Spring at City Park in New Orleans is always such a beautiful time for family portraits. With the soft greenery, open paths, and light filtering through the trees, it creates the kind of setting that feels effortless, timeless, and full of life. The Riedel family’s session in mid-April was exactly that.
This session was such a sweet one to document — just mom, dad, and their two-year-old son, Stuart, enjoying time together in one of the most beautiful spots in New Orleans. There is something especially meaningful about photographing families during this stage of life. Toddlers bring so much personality, movement, and unpredictability in the best possible way, and Stuart did exactly that throughout the session.
Rather than trying to force everything into perfect poses, we let the session unfold naturally. We walked through City Park, paused for the quiet in-between moments, and made space for play, laughter, and connection. Those are always the moments that end up feeling the most meaningful — the way a child reaches for a parent’s hand, the smiles exchanged between mom and dad, and the energy that makes this season of life so unforgettable.
City Park is such a perfect location for sessions like this because it gives families room to move while still offering a beautiful, classic backdrop. The natural setting keeps the focus on what matters most: your people, your connection, and the little moments you want to remember years from now.
The Riedel family made this session feel so easy and joyful. Stuart’s curiosity, playfulness, and sweet expressions brought so much life to the gallery, and together they created the kind of images that feel honest, warm, and timeless.
Sessions like this are such a reminder that family portraits do not have to be stiff or overly posed to be beautiful. Sometimes the most meaningful images come from simply slowing down and being present with the people you love most.
